See My Pain: The Pain Pass
Break the bias and navigate your pain journey with confidence.
1 in 2 women feel their pain has been ignored or dismissed because of their gender. As one of the world’s largest pain relief brands, Nurofen had the platform — and the responsibility — to drive change from within the healthcare system.
Insights from Nurofen’s Gender Pain Gap report revealed that women wanted more than just awareness — they needed a practical tool to advocate for themselves in medical settings. So we created one.

The Pain Pass is a simple, accessible tool designed to help women document, track and articulate their pain. All it takes is a pen. By making their pain visible, the Pain Pass empowers women to challenge bias in real-time and helps bridge the gap between patient and doctor.
We launched the Pain Pass at an immersive, three-part experiential exhibition — inviting healthcare professionals, policymakers and MPs to quite literally walk in the shoes of women.

The event offered a visceral insight into the reality of the gender pain gap and the urgent need for systemic change.

The Pain Pass was a key part of See My Pain—a national campaign fronted by a TV ad and designed to spark action across the public, healthcare professionals, and the wider industry. We brought the pass to life across social media, created dedicated posts encouraging women download it, and placed printed versions in GP surgeries, pharmacies, Boots and Superdrug stores.
Pain Passes distributed
across 2,400 health centres

On the Nurofen website, we made the Pain Pass available to download as a printable PDF, alongside a community page where women could share their own experiences of being dismissed—adding their voices to a growing archive of unheard pain.
